St Lucia Nightlife
St Lucia’s nightlife has its core in Rodney Bay Village, an area fast establishing itself as the favourite playground for visitors and locals alike, but there is a lot to explore outside of the district. Much of the St Lucian entertainment scene is al fresco or plays out on wide patios, giving the impression that the energy of a night out is too much to contain.
Anse La Raye fish fry is a popular Friday night destination for locals and visitors alike, the west coast village is just twenty minutes drive from the capital. Long-established and enjoying continued popularity is the Gros Islet Friday night street party. The generally sleepy fishing village takes on a whole new dimension by sunset Friday night when vendors set up their stalls and the first revellers stroll in for sundowners. By 9pm, the place is heaving, music emanates from towering speakers and the smell of great local food wafts through the festive air.
Rodney Bay, just down the road, is home to several restaurant/bars which are transformed after dinner. Aqua Shores is a patio bar great for watching the world amble by. Ti Bananne, the Coco Palm Hotel pool bar features live music most nights and is often the congregation point for those looking for a big night out. Iguana Wanna, newly opened, has a large semi-open air second floor veranda, a huge dance floor and often features live acts.
Rumours night club has theme nights and attracts a primarily younger crowd. A walk through this entertainment district is bound to offer something up to suit any taste from karaoke to laid-back pub type atmospheres. |
